Preplanning Thorough and conscientious pre-planning is essential to economy, efficiency, and high productivity in almost all construction operations; safety and health considerations should be an integral part of this process. Safety professionals should participate in the development of standard procedures and should review job operation plans for consideration such as the following:
(1.) To verify the method selected does indeed adhere to recommended and required standards and regulations for safety and health.
(2.) To be certain that the correct tools and equipment will be available for the work, including the necessary personal protection gear.
(3.) To express reservations about supervisors or workers who lack the skills that will be needed, and to suggest remedial training procedures where appropriate.
(4.) To anticipate hazards inherent in the work and recommend precautionary steps for dealing with them.
